NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHATHAM COLLEGE SCHOOL ChathamThere is a new school opening in September 2008 in the Chatham/Kent region and area families should be excited. Chatham College School, a secular, co-educational, university preparatory Junior Kindergarten to 8th grade school opens its doors to students on September 3rd, 2008. Entrepreneur Matthew Liang has purchased the previous Chatham Collegiate Institute building on Prince Street in Chatham and plans to utilize the 56,000 square foot facility as an independent school. The facility is complete with science labs, a Performing Arts Centre, double gymnasium and the new Chatham Hall of Wonders. Mr. Liang proposes to introduce a school where academic excellence, a strong sense of citizenship and a healthy choices lifestyle are the foundations upon which the students will learn. The School is already authorized by the Ontario Ministry of Education and can graduate high school students but it is the newest educational initiative that will make the school attractive to those families who are looking for the gold standard in education. Chatham College School intends to become an International Baccalaureate Primary Years accredited school initially, gaining the Middle Years designation for middle school students and finally the Diploma Program designations for high school graduates. Most universities offer credit for scores of 4-5 or above, and many students who complete the diploma program are awarded second year university placement upon admission. Many well-known Ivy League Institutions‘ Admission Deans state IB graduates are highly sought after as students for their prestigious schools. There are also scholarships available at many universities exclusively for IB diploma holders. No other school in the Chatham/Kent region carries this prestigious distinction.

“We are going to offer a very high quality of education as an option for the families in Chatham/Kent,” states Matthew Liang, the school’s founder, “We have retained a consulting company to help us that has significant experience in the start-up of new schools and particularly in gaining the accreditation by the International Baccalaureate Organization. This company, the Independent School Performance Group will be looking after every detail from the development of the curriculum to the international search for our first Head of School.”

The new School will also be very affordable with fees starting at just $8,000 per year, significant sibling discounts and an aggressive Tuition Assistance Program for financially qualified families.
