Welcome to Chatham College School

Chatham College School is a non-denominational, co-educational, JK-8 preparatory school that provides students with a superior educational program in an environment that inspires them toward academic high-achievement, fills them with confidence to succeed and to build their physical fitness. We are celebrating our inaugural year with the opening of our school with class commencement beginning September 9, 2008.

Philosophy
Our coat of arms and our Latin inscription " Vim Promovet Insitam-Learning promotes one's innate power" supports our belief in the power and value of education. Chatham College School provides a superior, enriched academic experience for parents who are looking for a quality educational alternative for their children. Since Chatham College School also believes that independent education should be accessible, we offer an affordable alternative for families that delivers unprececedented academic value for the Chatham-Kent region. Our challenging academic environment is rewarding and encourages students to achieve their potential both in and out of the classroom.  Chatham College School provides an environment that promotes diligence, achievement, and respect for self and others and we believe that this type of environment cultivates confident, happy and high-achieving students.

Mission and Values
Our mission is to provide students with superior academic preparation, a lifetime commitment to physical fitness, and the social skills and values required to grow into productive, socially-conscious citizens of their community, their country and the world. Our values are academic achievement, healthy lifestyle and a passionate commitment to quality education.  These values support the school’s culture of respect, courtesy and kindness toward others; dedication and commitment toward education and involvement and service to others in our community, country and world.

History and Facilities

Located in picturesque Chatham-Kent, Ontario the school is the former home to the historic Chatham Collegiate Institute founded in 1887. The facilities are on par with some of Canada's finest independent schools, offering 5 science labs, a dedicated art room, a performing arts centre, and a double gymnasium. Parents are comforted by the safety and security of the campus and find it overflowing with a wide variety of educational opportunities for their children.

On Campus
At the heart of the facility, is the 5000 square foot Chatham Hall of Wonders, containing both treasures of play as well as an imaginative feast of learning opportunities. Student’s are delighted with the “wonder” of imaginative play inspirations they discover in the Hall of Wonders.  Students follow their hearts and can draw, paint, and explore the world of Art in "Picasso’s Garden", or they can explore in learning centres like "Einsteins Laboratory", the "World of Explorers" or they can let their imagination run free as they become immersed in reading for pleasure. These centres are devoted to celebrating global cultures, presenting science and discoversy in a way that satisfies the inquisitve nature of children. The Hall also provides recognition to  student achievement in academics, athletics and community service.  These recognized students are “Knighted” by "The Chatham Order of Light" and become mentors to our younger students as they take on roles as leaders and champions of the school, and become our shining stars of achievement. But rest assured the children will have plenty of time for play in the Hall of Wonders.  The safe cushioned floor and indoor play centre is a perfect setting for play, excercise and having fun.
